Rural School Cambodia
What We Do...
Our rural school is located in Tnol Trong Village, just outside of Siem Reap town, Cambodia. The school has been running since early 2014 and is in the very early stages of development.
The school offers free education to nearly two hundred impoverished children and young adults of the Bakong community, many of whom are not able to attend school otherwise because their families cannot afford the related costs. Classes at the school focus heavily on teaching English as a second language.
When we have volunteers they work in the classroom alone, or in pairs depending on numbers with support from myself, Pouey, as the school director. When the availability of volunteers is low, we hire Khmer teachers if money allows.
There are two classrooms running twice a day. The first from 8-10am, the next 2-4pm. We also have some evening classes that you could help at if you choose but there is plenty of time for down time to see the village, spend time with the locals or make the short trip to Siem Reap if you wish. We are flexible here and respect the needs and desires of the volunteers.
